Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock,
Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock,

That's the inevitable sound
This abruptly summons
You back to the ground
As you seek to find
Something inside yourself
Apparently out of reach

It's the midst of a sunny afternoon
Off to work, soon you shall be
To the same place of dread
Because you need to earn the bread

But you won't be like the others
And simply turn to stone
One day, you are going
To make it in your own

Co-workers are there,
It seems year after year
Settling like one of them
Is what you most fear

Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock,
Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock,

That's the inevitable sound
This summons you
Back to the ground

Peer through the window
And observe all the life passing by
Wish you were her?
Or, do you long to be him?
Because they don't haft to work today
Must be so nice

The dream is to really make is someday
Then look back and say
Laboring nine to five
Barely kept me alive
I didn't turn to stone
Finally, I made it on my own

Bosses seem to think they can control you
Yet, they have no clue
It is to me I will remain true
And eventually find what I seek
Even though the present,
Appears to be bleak

Out there somewhere
Lies my special place
In the scheme of life
Utilize your artistic temperaments
And then turn that key
Setting the chains of nine to five free

Somewhere out there, a sanctuary waits
Until then,

Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock,
Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock
