The slip of satin over pale bruised skin
His fingertips trace the blossoming ink splotches
Lightly, Lovingly,
Her collarbone
Her stomach
Her legs
Whispers of pain
Her face contorts
And his remorse shows
Tears of his, Shed for forgotten apologies
Pale fingers shape his face
For he is not at fault
A father's rage is a powerful thing to bear
But his love will make her father's rage less heavy upon her weak shoulders
Still his eyes bleed water as he finds comfort in her hair
Magically her lips find his
Her pain shown through the chemical reaction of forgotten teen hearts
He cradles her as if she is his newborn child
Just holding her to his heart so she can hear that it beats for her
They whisper on into the night
And if you listen closely
I bet you can hear their love, beating on
