A tear slips from her eye

as she looks at the date.

Today was supposed to be a day of joy

and happines

but instead

it's a day

of could have been.

Today was the day

a new face

would be known.

But months ago

a baby was lost

before it saw the light.

The Mother only feels

regret and sorrow.

All she has left

is a date

all she has to remember

is the pain she felt

when the baby was no more.

Most nights

around this time

she cries

and morns in black.

She knows

that the baby awoke

to the light of God

and not of her face.

She awits for her time

to see her child.

But some days she thinks,

"Why can't I just see her now"

The mother

thinks of death,

and would welcome him.

But she lives on

and counts the years

Febuary 17th apears.

Today is Year one.

The baby  is one now

up in heaven

with her greatgrandfather

and God.
