The lights are turned down low. Faint glows from cameras and cell phones can be seen from the crowd. Everything is quiet, except for the loud pounding of my speeding heart. Everything happens all at once. My lips are dry, my hands and legs are shaking uncontrollabley, and there is sweat rolling down my face and chest. I am holding on to the microphone a little too hard because my hand is beginning to ache. I can barely see, but the huge stage has me feeling alone. My head is starting to throb and I feel like I can't do this. These next moments ar so important to me though. The music begins to play, the stage lights brighten, and what comes after is all up to me now. I take a deep breath, raise the microphone to my lips, and in these next moments, I let myself shine.
