It’s empty and abandoned, except two 16 year old pupils - a
boy and a girl. The girl is sitting at a desk, her shadow
glazing over piles of work. The boy stands by the door.

He forces a smile. She doesn’t believe him, but appreciates
Really, I’m fine with it.
But you’re not! Please, I do like
you, you’re a great friend!
That’s the problem.

Well, me - of course. Though you
too - you won’t have to put up with
my bitterness and desires. I can’t
control it and I can’t get over it
when you’re around.
Can’t you try?
The boy begins moving to the door, and shakes his head.
It hurts too much.
He turns to leave.
Make sure he treats you well.
He gives her a last smile, half forced and half
involuntarily from looking directly into her eyes. He
leaves abruptly, stopping it becoming awkward.
Shortly afterwards, BOYFRIEND walks in.
Who was that I passed in the hall
just now? Did he come from here?
Oh, he’s no-one.
Her whole body language has changed. She’s positively
I’ve been ready for ages.
She gets up and they exit the room holding hands.
