The same tale again and again

told by the men through empty words

to listeners long left though they

prattle on regardless.

A turn of the page reveals blank wallpaper

and a turn of the wall shows hidden possibilities

just beyond their grasp.

The next date ushers delusions of reform.

If one smashes the conduct he'll soon depart,

ne'er look looking back as the Lethe overflows,

ne'er asking why escape is necessity,

ne'er to there where his comrades lay awake

in eternal slumber.
