a poem about love

THE GIRL THAT LOVED AN ONION

How much do i love you

You asked of me one day

As much as you can love an onion

Is the answer i had to say

At first you looked most puzzled

Then a smile crept in...of glee

Please explain about this onion

please explain this love to me

so i looked into your eyes and started really slow

I wanted you to realise

I wanted you to know

I wanted you to love me

The way that i loved thee

My only wish i had was for you to really see

So i explained how i saw him

Each layer at a time

I explained how he moved me

And that i wished that he was mine

I explained i never knew what he thought of me each day

An onion has so many layers

and he peeled them all away

I told him i would find his heart

I told him i would see

If underneath all them layers he had a place for me

But there never seemed to be one

The layers just went thin

There never seemed to be a beat

From a loving heart within

You asked me why i loved you then

And i said with my reply

I hoped when i peeled back the layers one day

It was me you loved ......and for me you would die

So my layer is left unfound

And reality makes me sigh

Because i can dig that knife in the heart of you

And give you one more try

But you my love are an onion

And you will always make me cry x
