the streetseller sighs; who will have him?
The last sad poem of the day, for that I am glad.

A joke, sir?
A penny for a joke?
Who would hear it, ma'am?
A tuppence for a smile.

You've plenty, miss,
I see, I know, miss,
You've plenty to give...

To him, ma'am?
Would he like a joke too?
Just a penny for a joke,
And I'm practically giving
them away!

Don't worry,
I know you laugh
at me, not with me.
Don't worry,
He's a lovely hubby,
With jokes a plenty.

A joke, sir?
No?
You're riding
away from me with
her; please be cautious
of the sunset there, sir.

Goodbye, ma'am.

A joke, sir?
A penny for a joke?
Who would hear it, ma'am?
A tuppence for a smile.
