The Wall

There is the most unusual wall. It is covered with words. These words are etched into its surface, painted on, or written in various liquids.
It is a chronicle of those who have lingered before it. Who knows how many muggings, murders, and kisses that the wall has witnessed.
For some of those who pass by, it was to become their epitaph. They wrote their last message to the world in blood.  It seeped in to leave a permanent mark. This mark would be the last record of their existence.
There are love notes: from someone who loved the city, from another who loved a girl at a bar. Poems, small songs, fragments of thought. All unvoiced. This is a book written by the poor and rich alike. The lonely and hopelessly lost. They come from near and far to write their messages on this wall, these lost souls traveling through life.
This monument will stand till time ends. Read it and learn. Read it and live. This is what each of us carries. A wall that others write on. They write some little message that we learn form, use, and cherish. It is also what we fear, the hidden terrors of life that are hidden in the writings that others leave behind.
We are each a wall. We are written on. We witness, support, and give a testimony of history, to history. Our history.
