At rise:Sarah and Sean, on stage left, are roaming shelves in their high school library when, Sean bumps into Sarah, knocking the book she just picked up out of her hand.

Sean:
Sean leans over to pick up the book
I’m sorry, my bad. Here’s your book.

Sarah:
Sarah looks flustered
Thank you.
Sean:
Not an issue, like I said it was my bad.So are you in Mr. Roderick’s class?
Sarah:
Yeah, how’d you know?
Sean:
I had him last year so when I saw your flustered face, plus The Odyssey, I figured you’re either in his class or the biggest over achiever since Einstein.
Sarah:
It’s that obvious he’s making me stress out with all this homework?

Sean:
Sean smiles a playful grin
Well I guess if I was blind and deaf I wouldn’t of notice, but don’t let that get you down.I had his class last year, you just got to remember that Mr. Roderick isn’t a bad guy he just wants you prepared for college life.

Sarah:
Are you sure, between his work, the rest of my school work and my two jobs, I just keep falling farther and farther behind, sometimes I feel like the guy is trying to kill me.

Off stage we hear eight shots fired followed by screams. Both Sarah and Sean, but Sarah jumps behind a book shelf.
Sean:
What the Hell was that?
Sarah:
I don’t know but GET DOWN!

Jacob enters, panting, stage right with his right hand behind his back

Jacob:
Sarah, Sarah are you in here, Mr. Roderick said you were just before we heard the noise.Sarah if you’re in here pleas say something, I’m really scared.

Hearing the calls of her friend Sarah stands up.
Sarah:
Jacob what the hell was that, what’s going on?

Jacob:
Thank goodness you’re here I was so worried, and I didn’t know where else to look if you hadn’t been here. There is some crazed nerdy kid out there going around shooting people who made his life hell, I mean EVERYONE.I was worried about you; I just had to find you.

Jacob pulls his hand out from behind his back revealing a .22 pistol
Sarah is petrified when she sees the gun.
Sarah:
Jacob? Jacob what are you doing?
Sean:
Hearing the fear in Sarah’s voice Sean pulls her down just as Jacob pulls the trigger
Are you alright.
Sarah:
No, no I am not alright one of my few friends just shot at me.
Jacob:
Calls out in a mock cooing voice:
Sarah, oh Sarah did I get you, did I shoot you, Sarah?
Not hearing an answer Jacob starts to walk towards the shelf Sarah and Sean are hiding behind.

Sean:
Whatever you do just stay down ok?
Sarah:
What are you going to do?
Sean doesn’t answer but instead picks up a books holder from off the shelf and creeps to the other side when he stands and throws the book holder at Jacob:
Sean:
Hey psycho catch.

Jacob:
What?
After getting hit Jacob looks up angry only to see Sean closing fast to tackle the teenage gunman. Jacob raises the gun and shoots five times at the charging high schooler. Sean stumbles but his momentum carries him into Jacob causing both to fall. After struggling to get Sean’s, now limp, body off of him he grabs the gun and starts walking towards Sarah again.

Sarah, tsk, tsk, in the library making out with people among the book shelves. You know that’s why you’re going to die right.See you broke my heart so I figure I’m going to put a hole in yours.
Sarah:
Jacob please, please Jacob don’t we’re friends
Jacob:
No, Sarah I was your friend, you were never mine you hated spending time with me you hated me, and now I hate you.
Behind Jacob we see Sean start to get up and grab the book holder he threw at Jacob a moment ago.Jacob puts the hot gun barrel up against Sarah’s head.Sarah starts crying.
I loved you Sarah but, not anymore, good bye.
Jacob squeezes the trigger producing an audible “click”.Jacob starts pulling the trigger multiple times in disbelief he was out of ammo. Each trigger pull produces the same “click”. In his frustration he doesn’t notice that Sean had limped his way all the way to him and Sarah.
Sean:
Hey, psycho I’m not done with you yet.
Sean hits Jacob in the temple with his book holder. Both Sean and Jacob fall.Sean moans and Jacob doesn’t move again.

Sarah:
Still crying.
Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God, you’re shot.
Sean:
Tries to laugh but ends up coughing.
That’s pretty obvious I would say, I think he got me four times, So Sarah, my name is Sean, and I just wanted you to know it was good to meet you.
Sarah:
With tears streaming down her face.
It was good to meet you to Sean.
