Looking at you

Was like looking through a fun house mirror

Seeing the life I would have lived

If I has taken the road more traveled by

But I did nothing to halt the lazy path

That would lead you straight to pain

I reached out long enough to brush your skin

Then let my hands drop limply back to my sides

Something told me no

As if our happiness was a

Choose your own ending book

And I wanted to make sure I’d picked right

And looking back I suppose I did

But there is no happiness

In a victory

that you have stolen from someone else
