A poem I've written on the state of our everyday lives.

This is what I see,

A land crippled by hunger,

Nations haunted by their own creators,

A constant shadow of Death,

Cries for help that fall upon the ears of the Deaf.

This is what I see,

Homicide, Abortion, Hate, Inequality –

While we sit in ridicule,

Pointing fingers,

In the land of Hypocrisy.

This is what I see,

The trade of children reflecting that of weaponry,

How do we fail to fathom such a plea?

I fall to my knees, my heart inflamed,

Searching for a world cleansed of pain.

Of hate,

Of modern slavery,

Of social inequality,

To lose this War, to self-annihilate.

Maybe what this world should see,

Is hidden deep, beneath this misery.

A distant sign of fragile hope.

A love that shines between each bullet.

A simple smile from one once broke,

Expressions beyond Words,

The people free of self-unworth,

Fields of nerve-gas spreading tears of love,

Burying the seeds of violent birth,

The homeless hungry to rise above.

What I pray to see,

Is simply that of worldly harmony.
