I see the man in the window.

He just smiles and waves.

I see the man in the window,

with his kind, old face.

I see the man in the window.

With only one light in the house.

I see the man in the window.

I see him without a doubt.

I see the man in the window.

His eyes now sad and cold.

I see the man in the window.

Now looking very, very old

I look over one day.

And sitting across the street.

Was the man who was not in the window

Looking straight at me.

I felt my hair raise,

and the tingles all over.

Because the man who wasn't in the window,

is now coming over.

Sitting on his porch,

his smile still plastered there,

he calmly sat staring.

In his old rocking chair.

His smile no longer happy,

but a crazed eerie grin.

The man who wasn't in the window,

was no longer my kind ghostly friend.

I went to sleep that night,

with his face haunting my dreams,

and I woke up to a terrible sight.

because the man was next to me.
