Gypsy Girl

Roaming child, ocean eyes and hair of summer gold

Dancing, singing all the night and destiny foretold

Blessings from the spirit-nymphs swirl ‘round her sleeping head

And she awakes, that Gypsy Girl, upon her feathered bed

Swathed in cloth of vibrant dye; corset, skirt and blouse

With horse and cart, the travellers have no need for a house

Little girl already learns to be the perfect bride

For when she weds, she must be pure and stand by husband’s side

But at this time, just six years gone, allowed to laugh and play

With others she shall dance and sing and frolic with the fae

See the roaming Gypsy Girl; wild, untamed and free

Watch the dancing Gypsy Girl; that girl’s a Romani

This is so beautiful :) I love the way that it flows, the rhythm was very fun! I could actually see the girl-what she looked like and even her actions. I really like this piece :)

Thank you so much - this is actually one of my favourites too as it was written for a good friend of mine! the Gypsy girl described my friend perfectly and she was raised in a gypsy family :) Thank you for the praise - perhaps you might be interested in checking out my novel, or even taking a sneak peek at the prequel I have just begun uploading?
