CROHNS DISEASE is a inflammatory chronic condition of the colon and distal illeum. The cause is still unknown. Both men and women are affected equally with this condition. The average age is between fifteen and thirty. It is found more in the jewish population and no one knows why up to now.

Symptoms can start with cramping, chronic diarrhea, abdominal pain, incontinence, weight loss, anorexia, and fever. Some of the tests that are used to diagnose the conditiion are coloscopy, barium tests, laboratory analysis, and a biopsy. Many treatments are available.

Some of the treatments include medications like prednisone, sulfasiazine, and metronidazole to help with ulceration and inflammation. Physicians, physicians assistants, and nurses practioners can also prescribe iron supplements, fat soluble vitamins, anti-cholinergics for diarrhea. Surgery can be done in severe cases.
