MIDDLE EAR INFECTIONS or OTITIS MEDIAS can be caused by a viral or bacterial infection involving the upper respiratory tract. The infection is generally seen all year round by PHYSICIANS, PHYSICANS ASSISTANTS and NURSES PRACTIONERS IN ALL OFFICES.
The patientS may experience SIGNS and SYMPTOMS like persistent earache. Other symptoms can include fever, nausea, and in some cases hearing loss. Some complications from the infection can be acute mastoiditis, facial paralysis, meningitis, and a perforated eardrum.
The most common treatment is antibiotics to treat the infection. To help with the fever and pain analgesics and antipyretics are used. In patients with allergies antihistamines are used to help strengthen the eustachian tube function. Please see your PHYSICIANS, PHYSICIANS ASSISTANTS,or NURSES PRACTIONERS FOR YOUR HEALTH CARE.
