I woke up in a cold sweat. A hand figured on the wall across the room, a shadow so It seemed. It was cut off at the wrist, fingers stretched out as If In reach for something. I was uncertain. It was dark and cold In my room that night, I had three blankets, one more than usual. only the dim light from the street shown through my window. I curled up tight underneath the covers like a child scared of the boogie man. I hoped it was the same, just a figment of my own imagination. I don’t believe In the boogie man, I don’t believe In anything I can’t see. nevertheless, I could see this. It was clear, just a hand reaching out. So many thoughts rushed through my head as I lay quiet, numb and scared In my bed. Is It reaching out for me?  I feel something pulling me up, like some sort of gravity I’ve never felt before. It was as If I was floating, my feet dragged behind me across the floor. I was being pulled slowly In the direction of the hand. my eyes were frozen, they couldn’t focus on anything else. I was half way across the room when out of no where I fell to the floor. The connection the hand had hypnotized between us had broken. I lifted my head, the hand was gone. I picked myself up off the floor and walked back to my bed. I sat up all night with the light on, I couldn’t even try to sleep.
