My views on the world today about how pointless it all is.

Kudos to Amanda for the title.

What has this world become?
Who lied and called us civilized?
Once innocent eyes survey the world.
Tainted at fifteen.
No illusions.
Hate reigns free now.

We kill without remorse.
Send our loved ones to an early grave.

Why?

Families are pulled apart at the seems,
By the official wars and the ones on our streets.
Human blood taints the roads.

Human blood taints souls.
Misery is an old friend to many.
Death is an intrusive neighbor.
We preach love to our sons and then send them out in uniform.
What happens when all that is shipped homed is a dog tag?
Or when a friend dies in a drive by?

When will it end?
I’m not waiting for the end.  I’m taking a stand.
I refuse to hate.
I’m done with walking downtown, wondering if I’m gonna die.
I’m done shuffling around, holding my tongue.
I’m done being afraid of what I say.
