Memories are like waves--washing back up old emotions continuously throughout life.

Memories are like
waves in the ocean
eternally reoccurring
to wash ashore the
old memories of
past’s sorrowful happiness
and wallowing woe.

Stinging old wounds with
the salt of the seas
of the tears we once and still
shed over the lost,
shed over the loved,
mourning the abduction of
joy and blissful pain.

A hurt we relished
only after it
was washed away into the
depths of the trenches
of our minds and hearts,
hurt we forgot to enjoy
should never enjoy.

But time glorifies
Emotions once felt
So intensely for the loved,
A past that’s seldom
dismissed; but only
the sands of time bed ocean
floors, laying these aged
memories to rest.
