It began when Joseph awoke to find himself in a world of pitch blackness. All around him was nothing but darkness in a vast and empty world, like an outer space with no stars and no planets, and no life at all. The silence around him was deafening and confusing as he stood up and searched around for any sign of another person. He called out loudly into the darkness, begging for someone to respond to him, but no voice called back. A feeling of isolation and dread ran through him, with each minute of darkness he could feel his legs grow weaker and weaker until he thought for sure he would collapse to the ground and burst into tears, but suddenly from somewhere in the darkness, a voice called out to him.
The voice was calm yet powerful, it was deep and dark and echoed throughout the eternal blackness as if it was blending in with the silent darkness around him. The voice said to him “Relax Joseph, there is no reason to be afraid in this land of darkness. Do not cry, do not fear, for you are here for a reason and it is I who brought you here to speak”. Joseph jumped with shock and amazement and frantically began searching the darkness for any sign of this mysterious voice which had so suddenly spoken to him from the depths of these eternal shadows. “I’m right here, Joseph” said the voice in a cold and mocking tone which sent chills down his spine, he quickly turned around and jumped with shock at the strange being who now stood in front of him.
The strange being was illuminated by a fiery blue light which almost blinded him for a moment but his eyes soon adjusted well enough so that his eyes could focus upon the mysterious being. He saw a tall and slim man with skin white and pale. His eyes were a deep blue like the depths of the ocean and his face looked ancient as if this was a being who lived through many years. The strange man clenched his fists and slowly walked closer to Joseph as he said to him "Do you know who I am, child?", Joseph stood speechless for a moment but then responded to him "no, I do not. Where do you come from mysterious man? And what land of darkness is this that I seem stranded on?". The being bent down slowly making himself face to face with Joseph and a large and sinister smile slowly grew upon his face as he said coldly "I am God".
Joseph stepped back feeling astonished and confused. This couldn't possibly be God, could he? And even if he really was God, why does it seem like he gives off a dark presence, it just didn't add up. So Joseph said to him "If you truly are the being called God, then prove to me what Godly powers it is you possess". God then raised his hands into the darkness and slowly Joseph could see the darkness around him oozing away until he noticed they now stood in what seemed to be the room of a small child.
"This my child, is the room of a 5 year old boy who goes by the name of Timothy Blakes. He has been suffering from injuries given to him from a rough accident while his Mother had been driving him home from school. The damage done to his brain and his body is severe, this body is no longer needed for this soul."
Joseph looked down at the young boy was now fast asleep in his bed, he felt bad for the child and wanted to comfort him, but as he began walking closer to Timothy, God reached out and stopped him from going any further towards the kid, he turned and looked at Joseph saying "This is what happens when a mortal meets their fate", he then walked up to the boy and reached into his chest and began digging around as Joseph stood behind unable to speak any words for what he was witnessing. He then watched as God began to slowly pull out a large bright orb from the child's chest which lit up the room instantly nearly blinding Joseph, but as God pulled out the orb the light seemed to die down allowing Joseph to witness the next act of God.
He raised the orb up towards the ceiling, and as Joseph looked up he gasped at what he saw. The ceiling was gone and they seemed to be staring straight into space for all around Joseph could see bright stars surrounding the darkness around above them, it was as if the stars all came to watch the fate of this poor child's soul.
"God! What are you doing with that poor young Timothy's soul? Will you not have mercy for this poor child and spare him the touch of death?"
"This soul is no longer Timothy, this soul never was Timothy, for the child was merely a small vessel borrowing this soul for life. Now his time is up, and the soul must return to the stars and await for its moment to be borrowed again by a new vessel which I shall create."
God then proceeded to raise the orb of light off into the stars, Joseph watched it until it seemed to become lost with the millions of stars roaming the eternal darkness of space. Joseph felt angry with what he was seeing, it was cruel! It was unfair! The boy was only 5 he at least deserves a chance! Joseph just kept going over what he just saw in his head until he looked up to see God looking down at him. "Do you honestly believe you or any other of you vessels truly mean something? Do you truly believe that after your death you will be rewarded with an eternal afterlife of joy and peace? You are nothing, you are all nothing! I create and I destroy as I please, for you are of no value to this world or to me. A vessel, a costume worn by a simple chunk of light is all you are, now watch for my job here is yet to be finished."
Joseph stood shocked with absolutely nothing left to say but continues watching as God made his next move. He approached the child's body and grabbed it by the throat, lifting it up to the air he grabbed one of the arms of the child and tore it straight off! He then tore the other arm off, and then the legs and then even the head! "What are you doing!?" Screamed Joseph as he watched in horror as God pulled a large golden box out from a dark corner of the room, he said to Joseph "No soul can remain in the same vessel twice". Joseph looked down into the box to see piles of limbs and body parts from dozens of human bodies, all just piled together! Joseph watched in horror as God casually began going through and picking out different body parts. after around five minutes of searching God lifted all his chosen body pieces into the air and turned so that Joseph could see all the limbs and the body and the head all floating together in the air as if to mock him in his misery of what he had to watch. The limbs all slowly began to merge with the body and at last the head came down merging with the neck, Joseph watched the lifeless vessel as God tossed it into the air and it began floating away out the window like it was being Carried somewhere specific. "Where is it going?" Joseph asked as God stood watching it through the window as it flew away into the night. "It is leaving to be born with a new soul, and when that vessel is ready, I shall come for it."
Joseph frantically spoke to God "oh have mercy on me, I have seen what it is I need to see! Now wake me from this awful dream, I demand you wake me!" God turned and stared at Joseph with a deep and cold darkness in his eyes, and then God quickly approached Joseph and grabbed him by the shoulders, his eyes seemed to turn darker, his smile grew wicked and his voice grew frantic, "Don't you get it child? This is no dream, for you yourself is deceased!"
Joseph slowly backed away with disbelief "it can't be" he whispered to himself, "it can't be true!"
God threw his head back and let out a deep and terrifying roar of laughter as the room began to ooze away again, and Joseph then found himself In his own room.
Joseph could feel himself tremble as he approached his bed and looked down to see his body in bed motionless and cold. Just as he began to realize what was happening he heard a loud and sudden crunch, and all sound seemed to fade away. He looked behind to see God standing right behind him, his hand buried inside of him. God leaned down and whispered into his ear "this, is where your memory ends my child" and then he slowly began pulling a large light orb out from Joseph's body. Joseph could feel himself grow weaker and weaker, until he could no longer hear, and then no longer feel, and at last no longer see as a dead darkness took over his vision and his thoughts, and he fell to the ground, lifeless and cold.
God then grabbed Joseph and began pulling away his limbs, whistling to himself as he pulled out his box and began putting together a new human being, "it's all just a simple cycle" he whispered to himself as he began sending off the spirit and the vessel, "one large and pointless cycle." He then flew up Into the eternal darkness, disappearing into the shadows of the night and watching and waiting for the next vessel whose time would be up next.
