The latest short story I wrote. It's kind of more of a personal story and it has much emotion put into it and is so far probably one of the best and most mysterious short stories I have written so far. Also if you notice any typos it would be much appreciated if you could notify me about them so that I may fix them as soon as possible. Thank you.

Forgotten Memories

  By Ethan Peters

I had a dream, a nice dream. We were together in a field with a the sun shining bright. The skies were blue and clear and we were surrounded by flowers of all types. They were floating back and forth as if to wave at us and say hello, but we were too happy to notice. We sat on the grass next to the biggest, most beautiful tree I have ever seen. It almost had a bright shine to it and it made me smile. We held hands and sat by the tree and we looked into each others eyes. What you saw in my eyes, I couldn’t tell for sure. But I looked into your eyes and saw promises, bright happy promises. The longer I stared into your eyes the more love and joy I could feel. But even the best of dreams have to end, some sooner than others.

I woke with a such a startle, and for some reason I felt off. I felt as though I had notwaken up from a sweet loving dream, but from a dreadful nightmare instead. I looked around my room and all was quiet, all was dark. I heard talking, it sounded familiar. Then I could hear laughing and I knew for sure what I was hearing, I was listening to us. I blinked and the room was bright and full of happiness. On the edge of my bed I saw us both sitting together looking at a giant book with pictures that I could not tell what they were. We laughed while looking through them and enjoyed each other’s presence. Suddenly my bedroom slowly melted away with this loud horrible oozing sound that made me shudder quite badly. We were at an amusement park, and once again we were walking and talking and being happy together. The whole thing was like a really sweet dream, or maybe it was a memory?

The amusement park oozed away, but more and more visions of us kept appearing andThen just oozing away again. Each vision got shorter every time, and every time another one of them oozed away I felt rushed, like time was running faster every minute, and I was losing time quicker and quicker. I didn’t know what to make of it, I was scared and closed my eyes but all I could see was your two bright eyes, your eyes full of promises. I let out a scream while tears ran down my face. I opened my eyes and I was back in my quiet, dark room. I was confused and scared at the same time, but what happened next I’ll never forget. You were standing in my room, you stood right by the door.

There was no shine, there was no love, just the feeling of emptiness that somehow seemed to fill the entire room and weighed heavy upon me. The darkness almost seemed to cover you, but I could see your shape well enough, and I also saw your face. Your expressionless, cold, blank face. Oh, and your eyes, they seemed to stare at me with such coldness that I felt frozen in place. I looked into your eyes, and you looked into mine. I don’t know what you saw in me, but I saw nothing in you. No love, no joy, no promises.

Suddenly I could hear the oozing noise again, and I could see tears begin to roll down your face. You started to slowly melt away, I could hear your cries echoing throughout the room, though I did not see you make a single sound. I began to cry and screamed out your name, I ran towards you hoping to stop you from disappearing, but I was too late. You were gone, and everything became silent, it was a silence like no other. I stood there, alone, wondering to myself why this happened. And suddenly all the visions I had seen suddenly rushed back to me and made me drop to my knees. I realized that these were memories, not dreams. Memories that were too late to save, too late to get back. Now you’re gone, and all I have are these forgotten
