A poem describing a man who is sitting by his young daughter who is on her death bed as a result of cancer. I'm not sure what inspired me to write this. I just had this urge to write something that involved death but wasn't really DARK.

My Little Golden Soul

By Ethan Peters

My dear little Emily, you will be missed by all. You're bright blue eyes that sparkled in the light, and your beautiful bright smile that made everything feel okay. I will miss your eyes and I will miss your smiles, you're only 5 you shouldn't have to die.

Cancer is a monster though, and once it clings to a soul it refuses to let go. Your life was short and it's quite unfortunate! You will never love and never kiss, you will never enjoy the smiles of a child of your own.

And as I sit here by your side and watch you slowly die, I continue to wonder 'why, why, why?" But when Death came and sat by my side, I felt no fear. He is tall and beautiful and has a sweet smile on his face. He told me not to worry and that you'll be free of all your pain!

So do not worry yourself my precious little Emily, Death is not the scary monster we all make him out to be! He will tkae your soul to a place full of wonders. And your little golden soul will remain in our hearts forever.
