B E W A R E T H E M

Beware the snakes, that lurk within the grass,

Camouflaged by emerald fields, from the womb of Spring.

Stay paranoid, from Maryland all the way to Beijing,

Better hope the breeze, doesn’t drown out the hissing.

Toxic secretion from the teeth, keep antivenom at arms reach,

Genetic engineering, grow eyes in you occipital region.

Keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer,

Artificial siamese twins, held close by an adhesive.

Knife in my spine, can’t fucking feel my legs,

Assassination attempt, by my own blood brother.

Blindside block, the broken jaw of a sucker,

We’re playing Uno, switched sides with a reverse card.

Trust was used, for the foundation of the house we built,

And hurricane force winds, tore it down within seconds.

Lost within my own home, stop and ask for directions,

Don’t recognize you anymore, staring at a stranger.

Beware the snakes, that lurk within the grass,

Camouflaged by emerald fields, from the womb of Spring.

This is rap. Took me a second to realise it.

Rap was a big inspiration for me to start writing poetry, and it still shines through. Thanks for reading!

Those venomous bites hurt so much, don't they. Spat out bitterness, very relatable and so well expressed, MW.
