A A A | A A A

Do you remember the day we met?
A Saturday, and you sacrificed your morning,
For me.
Two days in, and you held a meeting
Yelled and bitched and apologized to me
You weren’t really like this, you said
Don’t be afraid.
Three days in, and you asked of me
To do a job I really had no clue how to do
But I told you I’d try
And I did
I knew I wanted to be your friend
But didn’t think it’d ever happen
Boss and employee
I said I’d try
And I did
6 months in and you told me you were
Leaving me.
Would I take the job?
I said no
And we left it at that
Then you asked again,
And you told me you needed me
You couldn’t do this without me
How could I refuse?
If I could have, I’d have thrown a fit
But I said I’d try
And I did
Now you’re leaving me again
And I’m afraid
That I can’t do this without you there
How will I do it?
Without you by my side?

I know our friendship
Still so new
And untested
Probably won’t survive
I’m telling you now
I’ll try.
Will you?
