Sometimes, all you can do is be there.

I don’t know what more I can say
That hasn’t been said already.
But tonight I felt compelled to try.
I don’t need to know or understand
Whatever you’re going through.
What I do know is you’re in pain
And you’re so damn far away.
So this is what I’d do if I were there:
I’d take you for a drive,
Catch some mule deer in the headlights.
I’d listen if that was what you needed,
Or sing along to the radio while you
Stayed in your head.
I’d bake gooey cookies and
Serve them to you
Hot from the oven
Challenge you to a game of West Virginia Rummy
And I’d win.
And you know what?
I’d face a room full of clowns for you.
That’s how much I love you.
Don’t you ever forget that.
