What a freakin’ weird word, eh?

To people like me, we don’t need it! Creatures of the night who prowl every corner of the Earth in search of blood. We, the vampires who stalk innocent mortals in thirst for their pulsing, red liquid.

And then it all changed when I laid eyes on the most beautiful girl I had ever seen.

Oh, how I craved her blood after that encounter. How I loathed her for depriving me of my feast, therefore killing me! She was my death, but I would have died for her anyways, the way she brought me to her mercy.

She was kind, loving. A treasure onto the human world. I was almost there, almost up to her neck when she saw me and grabbed my wrist. “Wretched creature!” I managed to hiss at her, but she simply smiled and led me to a seaside shack, where she sat me down and stared me straight in the eye. “Are you really a vampire?”

“Why did you choose me to feed on?” she asked, laughing.

Why had I chosen her? My love for her had been evident from the start.

“I don’t know.” I lied.

“Interesting.” She sat down by me and yawned. “I shouldn’t be out so late…”

“I’ll take you home.” I smiled at her and got up. She smiled back and took my hand, then let me lead her were she directed. Soon she was at her doorstep and I turned and left.

Now, I lie weak and deprived of food. All because of her. I had grown fond of that girl, grown so close to her that eventually, she too fell in love with me and we started going out together. It was not to last. She was mortal. She died a while ago. But I stayed on…living, breathing. I hated it. Now…I can surely die.

With no food I am like any normal creature, I falter.

Oh, how I longed to be in her arms…next to her…the beautiful angel who saved me from my blood…

And now I will see her again.

That one-of-a-kind treasure onto the human race. The girl I made a solemn promise to never bite any human to. The girl who killed me.

Love is such a weird word.

Like any other word, it can destroy a friendship, a relationship, a life.

It saved mine…
