First the splintered doorway

Eroded with musky grime

Whispers and it shivers

To the grey aging time

Memories in the ballroom

Of the parties now rare

It’s discarded, it’s tossed

Another room to spare

The clanging in the hallway

Upon the marble encrusted floor

Carries broken shattered vases

The wealth that once tore

The piano keys echo

With an unheard sound

What should have been is lost

The life never found

This big old house

Sits in sombre ushered tones

For once again to be looked on

By the lively dancing bones
