Your Place in My Heart

In my heart there is a place,
Where your picture sits beside a vase.
Cracked, tattered, and torn,
Frame and photo look forlorn.

But once upon a time,
Your words built every line.
The lines on the wall are bare and sparse,
Not continuing on their course.

Cracked, tattered and torn it may be,
And it’s power’s kept me from being free.
The strong and fatal pull,
Of love’s tragic emotional lull.

The hardest part is knowing,
That I’ll never see you smiling.
But the funny thing is,
I can’t quite remember that smile of his.
