Niall doesn’t want Liam to go back to Dani.

Niall had his arms around Liam’s waist and his nose poking into the side of Liam’s neck. Liam knew it was him without opening his eyes because it smelled like Niall, sort of like alcohol and sweat that has been barely covered by expensive cologne. Liam slowly opened his eyes, expecting it to be bright with morning sun, but it was still dark out. He lifted his head and looked around. They were in Niall’s hotel room. There were shoes and shirts everywhere, and Liam rolled his eyes because he knew he was going have to spend the day helping Niall pack.

Liam assessed his situation and decided there was no way he could get up without waking Niall, and he didn’t want to do that. He could only imagine how hung over Niall was from the night before; he probably wouldn’t even remember Liam having to practically carry him back to his room.

Instead of getting up, Liam reached to his left and picked up his phone. He should have expected the texts from Dani, but he didn’t. There were ten. The first being sweet and understanding (‘Hope you got Niall back ok. I’ll wait up for you?); the last being annoyed and pissed off (‘you always fucking do this Liam. You leave me for him. It’s not fair. I’m your girlfriend—not him). Liam sighed and set his phone to the side.

She was right, of course. More times than not, Liam found himself waking up with Niall’s arms around him and not Dani’s. He couldn’t help it though. It was Niall, and Niall was young and still a little stupid, and he needed Liam. She didn’t get that.

He checked his phone again. It was only six-thirty in the morning, but Liam knew he needed to get up and go back down to his room to try and placate his girlfriend. He started wiggling out of the Niall’s grasp, but the blonde groaned and held him tighter.

“Ni, come on, I have to go,” Liam said gently. He wrapped one of his hands around Niall’s and pulled it off his waist. Niall twisted his hand in Liam’s grasp and laced their fingers.

“No. Stay,” he mumbled, his face still pressed against Liam’s chest.

“Niall, Danielle isn’t very happy with me,” Liam said. “I have to go and try to salvage my relationship.”

“No,” Niall said. “I love you more than her. Stay with me.”

Liam sighed. “Yeah, maybe,” he said. “But she has sex with me, so…” He hated talking like that, but usually vulgarity was the only way to get through to Niall.

“I can have sex with you,” Niall responded. Liam stared at him like he was insane then laughed nervously. He started trying to get out of Niall’s grip again. He needed to get out of the room fast, before he could start thinking too much about what Niall had said.

“Liam!” Niall whined, flipping onto his back once Liam was all the way off the bed. “Come on, Liam. Don’t go. I was joking.”

“Were you?” Liam asked. Now he was thinking too much. He should have just left. He shouldn’t have paused by the bed. I can have sex with you. God, he wanted that so bad. He needed to leave. He turned away.

“Only a little,” Niall responded. Liam faced Niall again. The sheet only covered up to his waist, and he was propped up on his elbows. He was smiling over at Liam with messy hair and a bare torso. Even in the dark, his eyes were so obviously blue. Liam should have left. He shouldn’t have turned around.

“It’s early, Liam,” Niall said. “Come back to bed, and we’ll talk in the morning.”

“What about Dani?” Liam asked, but he was already kicking off his shoes and making his way back to the bed. Niall shifted over and pulled the blanket back for him.

“We both know what you’re going to do about that,” Niall said. Liam laid down next to him, and Niall cuddled into his chest again. He looked up at Liam expectantly. Liam leaned down and pressed his lips to Niall’s.

“Simple as that?” he asked when he pulled away. Niall was smiling.

“Simple as that,” Niall responded. “Now, go to sleep. My head’s fucking killing me.”

He buried his face in the crook of Liam’s neck and kissed his collarbone. Liam closed his eyes and let himself fall asleep.

Simple as that.
