Lovers

By M. E. Riddle

If you can wear the gold hat,

then wear it for her too.

If you can bounce high,

Bounce high for her too till she cry;

"High bouncing, gold hatted lover-

I need you!"

F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Sipping old wine

And old worldviews

Melted cool

By the image of you.

Slipping by

The night sky

Reflected

In our eyes.

We respond

A responsibility

Procreation

To be one.

Child’s play

An illusion

Deadly fun

With enthusiasm..

A cask of wine

In a lifetime

Many sunsets

Seventy summer times.

Fall in my arms

Whisper a song

Tonight we are lovers

Tomorrow were gone.
