Where Do Bees Go When They Die

In my foot

Twice

It’s the price I pay

For being free

Like the bee

Defiant me.

 

In my garden

Sans shoes

Not unlike the bees

Who die alone

On their backs

Outback.

 

Pulling weeds

Walking about

Dirt on my knees

My head taunting bees

Flying about

Two dead by a tree.

 

My foot finds one

Then the other

Profanities fly

They keep buzzing by

Alone in the shade

Beer soothing my heel.
