Happy Ending
By: Megan Herrick

There’s no such thing as a happy ending

Let’s go back to the beginning

When the times were good

And not so tough

Going through today was just too rough

Everything was great

Like a fairytale

Now I think you just want to bale

Do you remember before?

All the lust

With so much trust?

Did it all go away?

Waiting for the day

That you would say

That you loved me so

But am I right, to think, you just want me to go?

All that was left, now dead

All these untold words stuck in my head

Hoping…and wishing you would say it was so

But you didn’t…so I think I should go

How must you make it easy not to care?

It doesn’t seem so fair

Forget it all…do I even dare?

All my time put to waste

Never again do I want a taste

Never shall I be so gullible and nice

Just to come to an end…and pay the price

Never shall I try so hard and care

Just to find out…nothing is fair

Just think of the past

And I'll remember…forever never lasts

There’s no such thing as a happy ending

Now that I know…I have to start mending
