The last leaf fell before me,
But beyond the leaf I did see.
In it shattered dreams crumbled,
Lives tarnished and egos humbled.

It laid there lifeless,
Once bright now colorless.
Joy was once the tree it hung from,
Now on the ground it laid numb.

Life is unfair even to the innocent,
Taking back the life it once sent.
Once blooming with hopes and dreams,
It now floats lifeless in murky streams.
