In a dark room cried a young child. He called out for
his mother in the darkness of his room. He received
no visits, no hugs, no kisses. He dwelled in the
darkness of his room until his heart grew cold
with hatred. His mother cared little for him
and tortured him with hunger and cold treatment.
One night, he found freedom from the darkness of his
room by forcing his locked door and running with no
known destination into the city streets. The boy was
young, but learned quickly the ways of the streets.
Needing to eat and survive, he learned to steal. He had
learned to be a victim of violence with his mother, but
he had now learned to be the agressor. The years passed
and the boy became a clever and dangerous young man.
Being what he was, he tried taking a man's wallet by force
not knowing the man was armed. He succeeded in taking the
wallet, but as turned and ran a bullet penetrated his back.
He fell to the ground and laid there until an ambulance
arrived. He recovered from the wound, but lost mobility
in his legs. The boy was then charged with his crime and
was sentenced to five years in prison. The boy, now a man,
was once again surrounded by the darness of a room.
