Uncertainty

It boils deep within

When she bats her eyes

And they catch the sun they glimmer.

Her glimmering gaze pierces the veil

Shrouding my vision.

It penetrates my heart and fills it with warmth

And love.

When together,

I question nothing.

Looks of adoration,

Warm embraces,

Heart-accelerating kisses,

Fill me with love and certainty.

But when apart,

The past is haunting.

Nights are cold and lonely

And sleepless.

I question her gaze,

Her looks of adoration.

It is not a question of love,

For I know she loves me dearly.

It is a question of in what way?

The words of the past,

Are conflicting my present.

It is difficult for me to separate them,

The words of the past,

From those of the present.

But what am I to do?
