My Payment

Laying here
Alone yet again
Concrete heart
Cemented from within

I hear You
A whisper so gentle
I’m warmed
Even as I begin to fall

Life forsaken
Only by my own mortality
Grasping my fears
And how they comfort me

O my God
I am the least of these
But deny You not
For you are my disease

I am man
Born of my sin
Among the damned
And the  condemned

Frustrated screams
Heartfelt saddened tears
Redemption I beg
I’ve been begging for years

As I lay dying
My prayers rise to You
Utterly suffocated
Knowing my payment is due
