James blunt was an officer in “Life guard” a regiment of British army and, served as a member of NATO peacekeeping force in Kosovo. He was working as a captain. He was first British officer to enter the Kosovar capital. His unit was given the assignment of securing the Priština airport in advance of the 30,000-strong peacekeeping force; the Russian army had moved in and taken control of the airport before his unit's arrival. As the first officer on the scene, Blunt shared a part in the difficult task of addressing the potentially violent international incident. There were less intense moments during Blunt's Kosovo assignment. On those days, he had also written a song-“NO BRAVERY”. For relaxation, Guitar was best source of him.

Blunt took piano and violin lessons as a child, but his first significant exposure to popular music was at HarrowSchool. There, he was introduced to the guitar by a fellow student, and started playing guitar and writing songs at age 14.Blunt left the British army in 2002 for starting his music career. At BristolUniversity, his thesis was The Commodification of Image-Production of Pop-Idol. Simon Frith, a Sociologist and Rock critic had suggested Blunt to work on this thesis. It was at about that time that he started using the stage name "Blunt," in part to make it easier for others to spell; "Blount" is pronounced the same way, and remains his legal surname.

After this, he had signed contract with EMI music publishers and Twenty- first artist management. Linda Perry, who has just launched her own “Custard Records label” in early 2003.She, heard the promotional tape of Blunt, when she visited London, soon after heard him perform live at the South by Southwest Music Festival. Within a few days, Blunt signed a recording contract with Perry, and one month later he was in Los Angeles working with producer Tom Rothrock. Blunt had releases his first Album-“Back to Bedlam” in 2003 with producer Tom Rothrock Rothrock’s home studio. While in Los Angeles, he lodged with actress Carrie Fisher, whom he had met through the family of a former girlfriend. Fisher was very supportive of Blunt's aspirations, suggesting the name of the album and providing use of a bathroom in her home for Blunt to record the song "Goodbye My Lover". Back to Bedlam was finally released in the UK in October 2004.

It was Camilla Boler who guided unknown Blunt through early stages of his career and encouraged him to pen his new hugely successful album. Camilla, an aspiring singer and pretty heiress was enjoying her love life with Blunt. Their love life has been anything but beautiful.Their two-year romance had been tested by long periods apart, the overwhelming pressures of James's overnight fame and persistent whispers that the singer has been unfaithful. For months, there had been speculation that their relationship was over after reports in March that he had had an affair with socialite turned TV presenter Tara Palmer-Tomkinson. Blunt was found hand-in-hand with Petra Nemcova a Czech Supermodel at Manhattan night club. But Blunt, 32, denied rumours of an affair and insisted they were just friends. Then, two weeks ago, Camilla's worst fears were confirmed with the heartbreaking evidence that he was cheating on her. Camilla, the daughter of the late kitchen tycoon Stephen Boler, recalls how she felt intimidated by statuesque Petra when they met while Camilla was travelling with Blunt in America a year ago. Despite rumours that he had grown close to Petra, Camilla believed they were just good friends and didn't want to appear to be a suspicious girlfriend. Camilla still insists she believes Blunt did not cheat on her with Miss Palmer-Tomkinson. But she does admit that their relationship became increasingly strained as a result of his gruelling work schedule. 'When I was 18 I moved to London to be with my sister and got a job in a pub. He was just this musician who knew some of my friends. I knew he liked me a long time before anything happened. 'It was only two years ago that we got together. He invited me to a party the day before I was due to fly to Australia for a month. We stayed up all night talking and he was waiting for me when I got back. Of his most famous song, you’re Beautiful, Camilla, claims that Blunt only dedicated the song to her. It was in fact inspired by his ex-girlfriend Dixie Chassay.

Blunt released his second album-“ALL THE LOST SOULS” on 18 September, 2007 in North America, one day after its release in the United Kingdom. It sold 650,000 units in its first week, and was certified gold in the UK after only four days. By the end of January 2008, the album had sold 600,000 copies in the UK and 3.5 million copies internationally. Blunt had completed these songs at his Home in Ibiza. Critics were polarized in their treatment of the album, with some panning Souls, while others were filled with praise. Blunt's second album stirred far more critical review — both positive and negative — than his debut. Only after the success of "You're Beautiful" did critics begin to take real notice of Blunt's debut album. The first single from All the Lost Souls, "1973", was inspired by Blunt's nights out at Pacha, an Ibiza club, which opened in that year. In the end of 2007 James Blunt also worked with French rapper Sinik. They sing altogether in title "je réalise" (I realize).

Nemcova and Blunt met in December 2005 and started dating the following year. In November 2006,rumours circulated that they'd split, but the couple denied the story. It's official! Supermodel Petra Nemcova and British singer James Blunt are together. So Petra isn't single anymore! They were caught earlier today on the sandy beaches of Ibiza, Spain. Petra and James met in December 2005 at a fundraiser for her tsunami relief organization Happy Hearts. Petra was even spotted backstage at James' show during the Coachella Music Festival in California. The model, 27, and the "You're Beautiful" singer, 32, were last seen together over Oscar week in February, when they hit a slew of parties. They celebrated his birthday and also went to Elton's John's Oscar bash, where Blunt performed and Nemcova looked on. Their relationship ended here.

The musician's social life has been the subject of significant commentary, particularly in the tabloid press; James Blunt is well known to enjoy nightclubbing and socializing with other celebrities. But in recent weeks, Blunt has become a regular fixture in the Hollywood nightlife scene, hitting the town solo. He was spotted on the same night – March 21 – at both Les Deux, where he hung with pal Robbie Williams, and later at Teddy's, where he partied with Lindsay Lohan, Kelly Osbourne and Amy Winehouse. He has won ECHO AWARD for best international male Artist in 2008.
