I wanted to write my own lyrics to the theme song from the Archie Bunker Show (Those Were The Days), but change the words to reflect my generation. Those born in the mid 70's and early 80's. If you can think of the theme song melody as you read along it helps.

Those Were My Days

by Michael Dale Sipes, Jr.

Boy the way Liberace played!

How no one could guess that he was gay?

Every one worked and the bills were paid.

Those were my days.

Richard Simmons was still a man.

There was no mandated Health Care Plan.

O how we could use a man like Jack LaLanne again.

Those were my days.

Michael Jackson thrilled us with his songs.

Twenty dollars lasted all week long.

Where it all went, what went wrong?

Those were my days…
