I didn't know I wanted you

From carelessness you grew

And now you're gone.

My daughter or son.

We never even knew.

I lay alone in my bedroom

You, a little beast in bloom.

I cursed the illness,

But now it's all stillness

My little friend gone too soon.

I wept for a week,

All options were so bleak.

Your daddy, he seems lost;

Eyes all but frost.

Your mummy's unusually meek.

It makes me ill to think

Sleep came in a blink.

Naked on that white bed

No moist tears to shed;

Before your life would sink.

Now I sit on the train

I walk through the rain.

I hear a crying baby,

I smile, it's you maybe.

But no, and then the pain.

No, you were made with love,

I wish no heaven above.

Because then you will know,

Mummy said no,

And you're meant to feel love.
