The First Beat
I swear in the middle of the night
"Why me? Why do I always loose this fight?"
He left, and the one before, and the evil before
I convinced myself with knives that I was to be no more
The day I declared my last was paused in a brief moment
I saw her face, eyes, and her hand, hold badly I wanted to hold it
That night I placed my knife aside as it drew later
My memory would never fade of her
Just a moment with her made my heart stutter
She made it so easy to love her
I just wanted to be together
And I got my wish that I wished on a star
I promised I'd never let us be apart
Once her lips touched mine
I let go of any pride
The first time our lips meet
Is the start of the first beat
