Beautiful red roses
So full, voluptuous
Everywhere they grow, a whole field swarmed by them
They bathe in the moonlight
As a lone violin plays a sorrowful tune

Slowly a plague of ice sweeps through the field
The soft silken petals freeze with frost
Each rose begins to shatter, sounding like fallen glass
The violin continues to play, however
The song it plays matching the cold of the broken roses

In a black dress she slowly emerges
Feathered wings gently hang from her back, each feather shimmering and shining
Thoughtless green eyes surrounded by pale skin and raven hair composes her
Elegantly she steps through the rose stems
Closing her eyes, she listens to the man next to her play the solemn song

Softened brown eyes and chestnut hair, ruffled by ivory horns
Looking more like a silhouette as he seems to phase with each small breeze
Acute and well learned, he plays his violin with sophistication
All the while leaning back on a bony tail as if it's a stand
With a smile he ceases and lays his instrument down

In the distance wails of sorrow can be heard, but also the faint cries of a baby
As one person dies another is born, taking their place
Life and death coexist, just as they've done since times awakening.
Reaching over he pulls her into an embrace and lays an icy kiss upon her lips
Opening her eyes she gives a flaming kiss back as her wings wrap around him lovingly as they've learned to do for many millenniums
