I own the book "Spilling Ink" by Anne Mazer and Ellen Potter, and I have been experimenting with several activities from it. This is one example.

Faolan Is Walking Down The Street And A Strange Man Hands Her A Small Sealed Box And Says, \"Don't Let Anything Happen To This!\" Then The Man Sprints Away. What Does Faolan Do Next?

Curious. How very curious. Who was that, and why give me this? Faolan thought to herself. What could possibly be inside for me to keep it so safe? I have no idea how he will ever find me again to retrieve it back, but I suppose I could keep it safe for a little while. Although I am trying not to be too nosy, I've just been given pandora's box! She lifted the corner of one of the flaps sealing the box shut, and peered inside. She could see nothing but darkness within. Yet she yearned to find out more. Her heart thumping with anticipation, she carefully shook the box close to her ear, trying to detect small sounds from inside this strange cube, but nothing was to be heard. Frustration starting to bubble inside her, she glared at the box, but knowing this was not going to effect the inanimate object, ceased her negative looks. Why would the stranger trust her with something so precious? Was it perhaps a practical joke? She pressed the top of the box firmly with her thumbs, but not enough to rip the corrugated cardboard. They sunk as low as the material would allow, yet she felt nothing. The box was beginning to develop a sense of eeriness, and although it appeared to be quite empty, it had a definite weight added it it, meaning that something must be inside. Faolan turned her head around to stare down the street behind her, then in front, and finally across the road. The stranger had disappeared from sight, and was nowhere to be seen. Shrugging, she continued her journey down the street, carrying the box at her side. Maybe she could open it inside where no one would see, then reseal it. She wasn't letting anything happen to the mystery inside, and she could still satisfy her curiosity. But did the man mean to keep the box itself safe? If he was so afraid of anything happening to it, he wouldn't have trusted a stranger so. Taking one last peek into the box, and feeling disappointment loom over her as she discovered no new information about its contents, Faolan turned the corner of the street, and up the steps towards her front door.
