We wake up with the blankets wrapped around us. Hearing the whistling windswept snow outside is proof that we will not be going to work today... Likely, we will be trapped indoors all day. We will sleep a bit longer, consumed in each others arms, hearing nothing but our hearts beating.

We awaken to quiet we dont get to hear anymore. The hum of electrical devices has become as natural as the air we breath in our day and age. But not right now...

The electricity has gone out. The furnace is off. Immediately, a breeze fills the air, and we become aware that the house will not stay warm for long... I need to get up and start a fire.... while you lie in bed, I prepare a blanket and candles on the floor in front of the fireplace.

I turn on the radio on to catch some news, but instead soft music is playing... The blinds are open, and the snow is so heavy and furious, that you cant see the street...

The fire begins to crackle and warm the room. We lie on the floor holding each other, never quite making love, never quite needing to...

We just hold each other and listen, and think about our lives together, the future that we have dreamt about and the family we imagined. We lay in each others arms as the snow falls....
