Conan: A Poem

The land was full of dotted battlefields

And many a man had their bronze shields

Spears and arrows flooded the land

The battle was fought down to a man

For each were the best of fighters

One fighter on foot was lighter

His sword thrust trying to gain

His partner in battle could feel the pain

The sword thrust again looking for more blood

The two swordsmen fought till the blood flood

Then lay one swordsman died

His killer than fled

Off to the mighty kingdom he was born

For that his sword was sworn

With light fleeing ever onward

He made his way with his bronze sword

Through magical lands

Plunder in hand

He returned to  Cimmerian
