The Trail

Copyright 2011

Once upon the road of life one does not stop to think

Look upon the trail where you here the wagon clink

Down the trail goes me and winding ever on

I look behind and see the mountains gone

Where I lived is but a distant memory

As if fate was all in symmetry

The trail branches left and right which do I choose

For if I take one or the other one shall I lose

Upon the morrow shall I ride to the city by the sea?

And there I shall look upon what shall cease to be

Destroyed by men and women of vile demean

But as a monk I live my life to be clean
