At the country’s descent and fracture, I laugh.

At the loss of our reputation, our morals, I laugh.

At the world’s disbelief and derision, I laugh.

At the bully’s dismantling destruction, I laugh

At those alarmed at the erosion of norms, I laugh.

At those who care about the less-fortunate, I laugh.

At his ridiculing with childish nicknames, I laugh.

At his not desiring to empathize and heal the wounds, I laugh

At those across the political Grand Canyon, I laugh.

When Bush gave way to Obama, dark days indeed.

Went Obama gave way to Trump, I celebrated and laughed.

At thinking about the long-term repercussions, I laugh.

The arc of the pendulum is getting longer and longer.

The day the other side regains power, I won’t be laughing.
