Bennie the Brussels Sprout was hated by school children everywhere, but that was just fine by him.  He really didn't want to be porked down by some kid, like his used-to-be friend, Kevin the Candy Bar.  Kevin was as popular with kids as a snow day in winter, and he'd been callously devoured by a Cub Scout.  No, he didn't have that sad end to look forward to.  He was personally glad he tasted like shit.  He looked down the aisle of The Mega Store, where he lived along with his friends and family.  People passing by with their shopping carts stuffed with candy, cookies, and anything but Brussels sprouts.  Let others adorn the plates of hungry carnivores (well, he was a vegetable, not a, oh, say a steak!) ready to feed the gaping maw in their faces.  He was just happy to be ignored---hey, what the hell?  He was suddenly airborne, in the grasp of a mean-looking housewife.  Then, before the shock of being caught unawares could wear off and he could say anything (for, yes, he was a Brussels sprout, but he also had an amazing gift; he could talk!), he was plunged into a plastic prison cell, and thrown in a shopping cart.  He barely had time to think, before his plastic holding cell was thrown into a shopping bag, and he was being wheeled out to a car.

"Hey, let me out!" he screamed, but the plastic holding cell also apparently was soundproof, because his plea was ignored.  His world was plunged into darkness as the trunk lid was slammed shut.  He couldn't see anything, but the car backed out of the parking spot and drove forward.

At last, after what seemed like forever here in the dark and freezing cold, as it was the middle of winter, the car came to a stop.  Now he would let the woman know he was alive, and pissed.  But when the trunk was opened, and sudden light damn near blinded him, he was screaming that he was in here, but his shouts were foiled once again by the soundproof bag.  He could see the vague outlines of things, as the shopping bag he was inside of was deposited on the kitchen counter.  Man, was he ever freezing.  At least it was warm here in the kitchen.  Once his plastic holding cell was finally opened he'd give her what-for!  But all he could hear was the rattling around of pots and pans.  He'd have to be patient.

At last, his plastic holding cell was lifted; something was happening.  All he asked was a chance to be heard.  Weird shapes were seen through the holding cell walls, then he could feel warmth.  Ah yes!; but suddenly he felt the bag upended and his fellow prisoners began to fall into the steaming pot of boiling water!  Benny desperately grasp at the plastic walls of his prison, but because he had no hands, he felt himself falling.  He plunged into the boiling hot water; His last conscious though was,

Well, at least freezing won't be a problem any longer, at least, then everything went black.

The End
