I see things quite clearly in the cold light of day.
The long shadows of night have finally cleared away,
leaving only stark reality, not pipe dreams.
I finally see the way things are, not how I wish them to be.
***
Contrary to the way it should be, nothing is forever.
Sometimes, there is no easy answer,
just more questions--and nothing's a bed of roses,
as the cold light of day beats down, and exposes
the harsh truth for everyone to see,
instead of puppies and rainbows constantly.
***
So you'll heed my warning, if you are wise.
Don't live in a fantasy world, open your eyes.
Don't put your hands over your ears, and say, 'la, la, la',
and expect a comedy, when life is a drama.

unmasked delusions
ugh, yep this one hits hard. I've thought about this a lot. I don't like the sun and light of day because it exposes everything, the truth and reality of the world...I think that's why I like the darkness and winter time because I can just hide in a fantasy in my mind. Unlike most people, I'm more depressed in the summer and I'm really starting to understand why. Cool poem but I disagree I'd rather live in a fantasy world....besides I'm already stuck here ha.

Thank you, and despite this poem, I'm right there with you, except for the winter deal--the older I get, the better I like warm!
