Memories, good and bad

From years lost in your yesterdays,

come echo's of things that used to be.

Melancholy reflections, happy ones--gateways

of your past color all the spectrum of memories.

Some will haunt, never seem to leave you in peace.

Some bring joy, as the soundtrack of your life plays

in the background, these reminders never cease.

A gentle, or not so gentle, reminder of long-ago days.

Wow! A nice break from your political pieces of late.
The past always clings to us, but that doesn't mean it's always holding us back; it can help safely guide us through our future as well.
A nice piece, Mike! I like this.

I know you usually write about humor and political things but you are actually really good at poetry. This really surprised me; unique and deep. every line was great

Thank you much, UD, and while I do usually write comedy, I enjoy the serious every once in a while!

Yep, Mike. They are always there - some at least, depending on how good your memory is - but you can never go back...
