Fear the Future

The sun’s coming up on yet-another day

Unknowns abound, surprises can cut both ways

Both good and bad, which will it be?

Sometimes I can feel the vice closing on me

Try to stay positive, but sometimes it’s too tough

The water I’m sailing through is choppy and rough

I can’t help thinking, “What if I don’t make it?”

It’s taking what time I have left, bit by bit

I don’t like to think of what may come to pass

It’s all rushing by me, so damn fast

What of the plans I’ve made, if only in my head?

The stories unwritten, the words unsaid

Yes, I do fear the future; tell me what’s to come?

I don’t want to face it; I just want to run
